Commemorates the beginning of self-rule in 1964.

Commemorates the founding of the Italian republic on June 2, 1946.

Celebration of adoption of the constitutional monarchy in 1849.

National Day : Sweden.
Celebrates gaining independence from Denmark in 1523.

Celebrates the end of the Egyptian monarchy and the proclamation of the republic in 1952.

Celebrates the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. June 19th is the date in 1865, 2 1/2 years after the proclamation was issued, when slaves in Texas first learned about their freedom from soldiers in the Union army led by General Gordon Grange.

Celebrates the end of the British protectorate in 1960.

Stonewall Rebellion Anniversary : Gay/Lesbian.
Anniversary of the day in 1969 when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Greenwich Village in New York City. Marks the beginning of the battle by gays and lesbian for equal rights in the United States.

- Nagoshi-no-Oharai : Shinto.
Purification ceremony, originally intended for the purification of agricultural workers to ward off mishaps; now one of the two days of national purification in Japan during the year.
