National Day : Switzerland.
Commemorates the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291.

Independence Day : Bolivia.
Celebration of their declaration of independence from Spain in 1825.
Independence Day: Jamaica.
Commemorates independence from Britain in 1962.

National Day : Singapore.
Celebrates independence from Malaysia in 1965.

Independence Day : Ecuador.
Commemorates gaining independence from Spain in 1830.
- Tish B'av : Jewish.
Holiday commemorates the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 586 B.C.E. and again in 70 C.E.

Independence Day : Pakistan.
Commemorates the day in 1947 when British rule ended in the Indian Empire and Pakistan became an independent country. Indians celebrate this day on August 15.

Independence Day : India.
Celebrates the day in 1947 when India became a self-governing country.
Liberation Day : Korea.
Commemorates (in North Korea) the surrender of the Japanese in 1945 and the end of Japanese occupation and (in South Korea) the creation of an independent government in 1948.
- Feast of the Assumption : Christian (Roman Catholic).
Day set aside by Roman Catholics to celebrate the belief that the Virgin Mary was assumed into heaven following her death.

St. Stephens Day: Hungary.
Day set aside to commemorate the first king of Hungary, Stephen, who was canonized in 1083.

Commemorates gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
- Janmashtami (Birth of Lord Krishna): Hindu.
Hindu night festival. Celebrates the birthday of Krishna, the eight incarnation of the God Vishnu.

Victory Day : Turkey.
Celebrates the end of Ottoman rule in 1922.

National Day : Malaysia.
Celebration of independence from Great Britain in 1957.
